Kelly Clarkson angers fans with Ron Paul endorsement

Kelly clarkson

Pop star Kelly Clarkson enraged some of her fans after endorosing Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Thursday.

The former "American Idol" winner wrote on Twitter, “I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

She added, "I am a Republican but I actually voted Democrat last election."

In response to her comments several fans tweeted harsh criticisms of what they believe to be Paul's political views, namely his stance on gay rights. Clarkson seemed caught off guard by the response.

"I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent," she wrote in a follow-up statement. "I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite."

“Man my eyes have been opened to so much hate tonight. If y’all ever disagree with something I say please don’t feel the need to attack me," she added. "I will listen to what you say and any articles or viewpoints you have when you say it with respect."

Dolly Parton

Country music legend Dolly Parton is planning a Broadway musical based on her life story. The singer/actress, who is starring in the upcoming film "Joyful Noise" alongside Queen Latifah, revealed the news in an interview with WENN.

"I'm writing my life story as a musical for Broadway," she said. "I probably won't be in it but I'll find a way to introduce it somehow, maybe the older me."

The singer/actress previously tried her hand at musical theatre with an adaptation of the 1980 film "9 to 5" but the show flopped, closing after a 17-week run in New York. However, she said she won't let that experience "sour" her Broadway dreams.

“9 to 5 didn’t make it on Broadway but it didn’t sour me. I learned all this stuff from it," she said.

She added "Joyful Noise," which is about four women that enter a national choir competition, might also be a candidate for a stage adaptation. "'Joyful Noise' would make a great Broadway show so maybe I’ll write music for that!” she added.

Sinead O'Connor ends marriage after 16 days

Sinead oconnor

Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has ended her fourth marriage after 16 days, blaming pressure from her husband Barry Herridge's friends and family and a bad trip on her wedding night.

"Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life," she wrote in a blog post announcing the split. "And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink."

The 45-year-old singer married Herridge on December 8 in a Las Vegas ceremony after embarking on a months-long social media campaign to find a new man. They lived together for seven days before O'Connor ended the relationship on Christmas Eve. She admitted the two "rushed" into marriage without considering the impact on his life and career.

In the blog post, she pleaded with the media not to hound her husband, a children's addiction counsellor, for fear of jeopardizing the privacy required to do his job.

"Please be considerate of their feelings and leave them and my husband alone. I repeat this is of UTMOST importance to the wonderful children my husband helps every day," she wrote. "His work is his life. Publicity over all this could jeopardise his job. Please, don't do that to him. Or I will have that on my conscience as well. He is a private person. I'm fair game. He or his family are not."

The marriage was the fourth for O'Connor. In summing up the experience, she remembered the good times.

"As my good friend said 'well, at least you got married in Vegas in a pink Cadillac! Can't get more Rock n Roll than that,'" she wrote. "So now u can all go ahead and have a great laugh, media wise, and be horrid if u desire to. But that's my record set straight."

Demi Lovato criticizes Disney over eating disorder joke

Demi lovato

Demi Lovato took Disney Channel execs to task after a character on the TV show "Shake It Up" made a joke about eating disorders. The 19-year-old pop star, who quit the Disney series "Sonny With A Chance" after her own battle with bulimia became pulblic earlier this year, chastized the network on Twitter last Friday in response to the quip, "I could just eat you up. Well, if I ate."

"What are we promoting here?" he wrote. "I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress' from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about that very disease."

Referring to Disney stars Raven-Symone and Hilary Duff, she added, "And is it just me or are the actress' getting THINNER AND THINNER.... I miss the days of RAVEN, and LIZZIE MCGUIRE."

"Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT," she summed up.

It appears the rant worked. Almost immediately, Disney's PR responded to Lovato: "We hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them ... It’s NEVER our intention to make light of eating disorders!"
