Andre 3000 to play Jimi Hendrix in biopic

OutKast rapper Andre 3000 will play the legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix in a new film biopic called All is By My Side.

According to the Irish Film and Television Network, the film is already in pre-production and principal photography will begin in locations around Ireland, including the capital Dublin, later this month.

The film, which has been rumoured to be in the works for a while, is being directed by Three Kings and U-Turn screenwriter John Ridley, who also wrote the screenplay. It will focus on Hendrix's life in 1966-1967 when he was discovered in a New York club by Linda Keith, then girlfriend of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. The film will also cover the recording of Hendrix's debut album Are You Experienced?
