Kanye West debuted his latest short film Cruel Summer for a small, star-studded audience in Cannes, France on Wednesday.

The film, which runs just under 30 minutes, stars Kid Cudi as a Lamborghini thief that falls in love with a blind woman and was shot over four days in Doha, Qatar.

The Chicago MC presented the film out-of-competition during the Cannes Film Festival as a seven-screen art installation for 200 people gathered in a pyramid-shaped tent built especially for the screening. Audience members included West's girlfriend, reality star Kim Kardashian (pictured above), rapper Jay-Z and the cast, which includes Lebanese actress Razane Jammal, rapper Big Sean and Palestinian actor Ali Suliman.

The film's soundtrack features cuts from West's forthcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation album of the same name as well as a cameo by Parks and Recreation actor Aziz Anzari and the director himself.

After the screening, West told the crowd the film is a still a work-in-progress. "All odds were against us having this moment in Cannes,” he said. "I can dream one day that (this) will be the way that one day people will watch movies."
