Matchbox 20 to release 'North' album in September

Matchbox 20

Matchbox 20 will release their first album of all-new material in a decade this September. North is due out on September 4 and will be preceded by the lead single "She's So Mean" in June.

The band wrote the album in Nashville and recorded it last summer with producer Matt Serletic at his Emblem Studios in Calabasas, California.

"The title refers to us finding our way," guitarist Paul Doucette said in an interview with Rolling Stone.  "We went into this record with a lot of material. Many different songs that could have taken us in many different directions. It sort of overwhelmed us for a bit. But, at a certain point, we figured it out. We figured out where 'North' was."
Matchbox 20's most recent album was the 2007 compilation Exile on Mainstream, which also featured six new songs. Their last LP of new material was 2002's More Than You Think You Are.
