One of the rappers present during a brawl in a New York nightclub that allegedly involved the entourages of Chris Brown and Drake has said neither performer was responsible for instigating in the violent incident.

In an interview with XXL, Meek Mill said that he spoke with Brown right after the drama last Wednesday (June 13) and remains on good terms with the R&B singer.

"Chris and Drake, them two was there but its other people that be around that take s*** to the next level," he said. "Things just happen in the club. I seen girls in there throwing bottles, all types of s***. All types of people. I never seen Chris Brown or Drake throw a bottle and I was there."

Asked by XXL if he threw a bottle, he replied: "F*** no."

"Chris Brown be in clubs," he added. "He be around situations like this. Things get out of hand that don’t mean it’s out of hand with me and him or whoever, not even him and Drake."

The W.i.P. nightclub, where the incident occurred, has since been shut down due to code violations. There have been reports that five patrons were injured, Brown suffered a gash to the chin and his bodyguard sustained a serious cut to his head.

Police are continuing to investigate.
