One Direction is going to record two unreleased songs by singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. The 21-year-old told British newspaper The Daily Star that he'll join the British-Irish boy band in the studio later this summer to record two songs he wrote when he was a teeanger.

"I wrote a couple of songs when I was 17 that One Direction want for their next album," he said. "I'm going into the studio in August to produce the tracks for them."

"I won't feature on the tracks though," he added. "There's definitely a divide in genre."

Sheeran, who's debut album entered the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart at number five, also said that he doesn't yet feel like he's crossed over in the United States yet.

"I think when I’ve sold a million records over there I can say that. At the moment I’ve sold 40,000 in a week," he said.
