Lamborghini approves of Kanye West's "Mercy" shout out

A spokesperson for luxury Italian auto brand Lamborghini says that execs at the company approve of the brand's name-check in Kanye West's summer club jam "Mercy."

The song is the lead single from the Chicago MC's forthcoming Cruel Summer, a compilation album featuring tracks by the artists signed to his G.O.O.D. Music label, and features the line: "Lamborghini mercy/Your chick, she’s so thirsty" with "mercy" referring to the Murcielago, one of the brand's sports car lines.

"We appreciate the publicity," said a U.S. spokesperson told Complex. "But more importantly, we hope Kanye has the opportunity to fully experience the exhilarating performance and technical innovations found in all Lamborghinis.

"Most owners tell us they’ve had a lifelong love affair with the brand before they actually purchased their Lamborghini,” the spokesperson added. "This is another example of the use of a Lamborghini in various art forms. Communicating success, individuality and creativity are hallmarks of the brand."

The music video for "Mercy" was filmed at Lamborghini dealership in Doha, Qatar but, as Complex points out, the Murcielago line is sold out so producers instead used a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 for the shoot.
