Spice Girls musical to open in December
A stage show based on the music of British girl group The Spice Girls will open in London this December, the Daily Mail reports.
Entitled Viva Forever, the musical was created by Mamma Mia!'s Judy Craymer and British comedian Jennifer Saunders and will feature 16 songs associated with the group members Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm.
Auditions will be held in June and July and previews are due to begin in November. The creative team behind the show also includes director Paul Garrington, choreographer Lynne Page, designer Peter Mackintosh and orchestrator Martin Koch.
The plot will have to do with a mother-daughter relationship and a TV talent show. Songs to be featured in Viva Forever include "Wannabe," "The Lady Is A Vamp," Who Do You Think You Are" and "Mamma." Craymer told the newspaper that although the show isn't about the Spice Girls, "it's sprinkled with their essence.
