Beyoncé writes poem in support of Frank Ocean
Beyoncé is the latest celebrtiy to state her support for Frank Ocean, the R&B singer that made headlines last week after he publicly admitted to a past relationship with a man.
In a handwritten poem posted on her Tumblr page, the pop diva wrote, "Be fearless. Be honest. Be generous. Be brave. Be poetic. Be open. Be free. Be yourself. Be in love. Be happy. Be inspiration."
Last week, Ocean, who is also a member of the hip-hop collective Odd Future, posted a statement on his Tumblr explaining how his past relationships and loves influenced his forthcoming album, Channel Orange. The admission that he once fell for a man was hailed by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons as a game changing moment for hip-hop, a genre that has historically lacked high-profile queer voices.
"His gifts are undeniable. His talent, enormous. His bravery, incredible. His actions this morning will uplift our consciousness and allow us to become better people," Simmons wrote. "Every single one of us is born with peace and tranquility in our heart. Frank just found his."
Beyoncé and Ocean worked together on her 2011 album 4 for which he wrote the song "I Miss You."
