Run-D.M.C. to reunite for first time in a decade
Pioneering hip-hop group Run-D.M.C. will reunite and perform for the first time together in a decade later this year.
Surviving members Joseph "Run" Simmons and Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels will headline the main stage at Fun Fun Fun Fest, which takes place from November 2 to 4 in Austin, Texas.
The band retired their name in 2002 following the shooting death of DJ and producer Jason "Jam Master Jay" Mizell. To honour his legacy, festival organizers are donating a portion of ticket sales to the JMJ Foundation for Music, which gives youth access to the arts.
"We couldn’t be more excited," festival producer James Moody said in a statement. "Run-D.M.C. is one of our favorite bands, and one of the most influential groups of all time... We never thought that we would get to see [them] play live, much less play in Austin at our festival."
