Elton John: 'Madonna's career is over'
Elton John has declared Madonna's career "over."
In an interview with an Australian journalist, the pop legend defended his friend and godmother to his child, Lady Gaga, from the Material Girl, calling his long-time rival a "nightmare" and comparing her to a "fairground stripper."
"She's such a nightmare," he said. "Her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c***."
"If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly," he continued, adding that "she looks like a fucking fairground stripper."
Although Gaga has avoided responding publicly, John has been on a tear. In January, he told Madonna to "lip-sych well" during her Super Bowl half-time show and the two later traded barbs on the Golden Globe Awards red carpet. After Madonna's song "Masterpiece" beat one of John's songs for Best Original Song, his husband David Furnish went on Facebook and called her "embarrassing."
