Promoter accuses Minaj of snubbing $30K club gig
A Dallas club promoter has accused Nicki Minaj of accepting US $30,000 to appear at an after party and then failing to show up.
NME reports the Young Money rapper performed at the Verizon Grand Prairie in Dallas on Sunday (July 29) and was supposed to appear at the Zouk nightclub afterward but allegedly decided not to attend.
"No after party tonight barbz. Shout out to the promoters who sold tickets under false pretences though," she tweeted.
In an interview with Channel 33, club owner Matt Cislo countered that she had been paid, showed up at the venue but then simply decided not to go in.
"We looked at their promoter's contracts, the wire transfer, we had seen everything; that's why we went through with the show," he said. "From my understanding, she was outside, she had shown up, her security had done a walkthrough and she just decided not to come in.
"As soon as everyone found out she wasn't showing up on Twitter they were messaging us, text message, emails, you know, 'Why are you putting on a fake show?' Just gives us a bad rep," he added.
