Lady Gaga hits back at weight critics

Lady Gaga 25

Lady Gaga has responded to news reports focusing on her recent weight gain in a series of tweets.

After a series of photos hit the web of the pop star performing during the European leg of her 'Born This Way Ball' tour, the star admitted that she's put on a few pounds because she's been enjoying the food at her father's Italian eatery in New York City. There have since been rumours that Gaga's label is pressuring her to drop the weight.

Over the weekend, Gaga seemingly addressed the negative press by tweeting a link to a photo of Marilyn Monroe with a quote that says, "To all the girls that think you're ugly because you're not a size 0, you're the beautiful one. It's society who's ugly."

"And thank to my fans who love me no matter what, and know the meaning of real beauty & compassion," she wrote. "I really love you.”

To hammer home the point, Gaga later tweeted a photo of herself naked on the toilet that was taken by celebrity photographer Terry Richardson. Have a gander at that here.
