LMFAO are breaking up
It's splitsville for LMFAO. The uncle-nephew dance-pop duo of Redfoo and SkyBlu have decided to take a break after six years together.
"I feel like we've been doing this for so long, five or six years," Redfoo (a.k.a. Stefan Kendal Gordy) told an Australian website this week. "And we're kind of like saying, well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time."
He explained that the decision to part ways with SkyBlu (a.k.a. Skyler Husten Gordy) came naturally because the two have been going in "different directions" musically for some time.
"I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we're always family," he said. "He'll always be my nephew, I'll always be his uncle."
LMFAO has released two albums and scored two number one hits in the United States in Canada with the singles "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It." Earlier this year, the duo joined pop superstar Madonna during her Super Bowl half-time show performance.
Redfoo will continue to make music as a solo artist and promises that the sound won't be too far off from the high-energy dance productions LMFAO is known for.
"All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish," he says. "I love all the topics that we talk about. I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music."
