Miley Cyrus says she hopes to release a "sick record" in 2013.

In an interview with Billboard backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival over the weekend, the Hannah Montana star said she intends to release a new single before the year's end and an album in early 2013.

"I've been in so many sessions and just kind of bunkering down and working really hard and perfecting everything," she said. "I've never really had time to do that, to kind of have my record kind of 'done' and then sit there and make it until it's perfect. So, it's been really, really fun. This whole year that's all I've really dedicated life to."

Cyrus has been working on new material with Neptunes producer Pharrell Williams and Da Internz, the production duo behind Rihanna's "Birthday Cake" and Big Sean's "A$$." It's not clear what label will release the forthcoming LP.

To date, the star has released three albums under her own name: Meet Miley Cyrus in 2007, Breakout in 2008 and Can't Be Tamed in 2010.
