Springsteen celebrates his 63rd birthday on stage
Bruce Springsteen celebrated his 63rd birthday in typically epic fashion: with a three-and-a-half-hour concert that didn't end until 2 a.m.
The Associated Press reports that The Boss's show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday (September 23) was nearly called off due to stormy weather, but thousands of fans waited out the rain until 10:30 p.m. when the skies were clear enough for Springsteen and the E Street Band to hit the stage.
During the show, Springsteen brought out his mother Adele who watched as her son cut a giant cake in the shape of a guitar and passed out pieces to members of the audience. She then danced and sang along to "Twist and Shout" before departing the stage with the rest of the group just before 2 a.m.
The concert was the third in a three-night stand at Springsteen's home state arena.
