Actor Eric Dane sues Billy Corgan over fallen tree
Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane has slapped Smashing Pumpkins rocker Billy Corgan with a lawsuit that alleges a tree on Corgan's property nearly killed his pregnant wife when he fell during a storm, Rolling Stone reports (via ABC News).
According to the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, that Dane's wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, was home alone with their 20-month-old daughter when the tree crashed into the house during a storm, triggering the sprinkler system, cutting power lines and causing a flood in their house.
As a result, the home was "surrounded by live high voltage wires, and without the benefit of any light whatsoever," Dane states in the suit.
Gayheart and the baby escaped without injury.
Dane also alleges that Corgan was warned that his trees were unstable, a claim the rocker called "patently untrue" in a statement. "I was horrified when I learned about the tree falling," he said. "Thankfully, no one was injured."
He added that the in incident is a "shame.. because they are nice people."
Dane and Gayheart have not commented on the case.
