Adele premieres "Skyfall" theme

Adele Skyfall

Adele's theme song for the James Bond movie "Skyfall" debuted on Friday (October 5) and critics are already hailing it as a classic.

The haunting, brassy tune, which harkens back to classic Bond anthems such as Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger," features a typically soaring vocal performance by the popular British soul singer. Within hours of its debut, the song rocketed to the top of the iTunes chart in Canada, displacing the K-pop novelty "Gangnam Style."

The track will be featured in the film of the same name, which opens in North American cinemas on November 9.
