Kelly Clarkson announces single, greatest hits

Kelly Clarkson Catch My Breath

Kelly Clarkson will look back at the past decade of her career with a greatest hits compilation. On November 19, The inaugural American Idol winner will release Greatest Hits - Chapter 1, which will include familiar favourites plus three new tracks.

The album's first single, "Catch My Breath," is due out on October 16. It was co-written by Clarkson, Jason Halbert and Eric Olson.

"To celebrate the strength and longevity that my fans, friends, and family have supported me with I wrote this song 'Catch my Breath' with one of my best friends that has seen me through everything," she wrote in an update on her website. "This song represents who I've been, what I've felt, and where I'm headed as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it's time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today."

Although, Clarkson has yet to reveal the compilation's track listing, she has five studio albums to draw upon: Thankful (2003), Breakaway (2004), My December (2007), All I Ever Wanted (2009) and Stronger (2011).
