The Weeknd debuts new song "Enemy"

The weeknd

Toronto R&B artist The Weeknd has released his first bit of new material in nearly a year.

On Thursday (October 25), the press-shy crooner tweeted a link to "Enemy," a seductive ballad that samples the chorus from The Smiths' classic 1984 song "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want." The song is not featured on his forthcoming debut album Trilogy, which collects remastered versions of his three mixtapes into one set, meaning it's likely a brand new track.

"NYC three shows back to back starts tonight. and for the fans that can't make it, i got something for you," he wrote.

The Weeknd, a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye, will also perform a three-night stand in Toronto from November 2-4.

Listen to "Enemy" here. Trilogy is due out on November 13 via Universal.
