Robyn to begin work on eighth album
Robyn is beginning work on her eighth studio album. In an interview with Pitchfork, the Swedish pop star revealed that she is heading back into the studio following a lengthly world tour in support of her 2010 album Body Talk.
"I'm supposed to go home and be in the studio. I can't write on tour at the same time. I can record and tour at the same time, but I can't write and tour," she said.
Although she said it is too early to say what musical direction the new material will go in, she mused that house and hip-hop may have an influence once she starts writing.
"There is
some inspiring music out there that I'm listening to and I'm going back
to a few things that I used to listen to. Like house music that's softer,
like Balearic House," she added. "I kind of lost faith in hip-hop a couple of years ago and I'm starting to maybe have people convince me again becuase of A$AP Rock and all these people that are coming out now. They have this new energy."
In other Robyn news, Billboard reports that the star's 2010 single "Dancing On My Own" enjoyed a sales spike after the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night (January 13). The song played twice during the NBC broadcast when the HBO series Girls won awards for best TV series - comedy and best performance by an actress in a TV series - comedy or musical for its star and creator Lena Dunham.
The song was also included on the Girls soundtrack album.
