Houston's mom slams Clive Davis Grammy party

Whitney Houston 3

The mother of late pop diva Whitney Houston has called her invitation to music mogul Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party this weekend "obscene."

"I got an invitation to the party, which is the most obscene thing," Cissy Houston told Access Hollywood on Thursday (February 7). "I don't know why they would want me to come to the party in which she died, you know? Unheard of... I guess maybe he just sent me a copy for remembrance sake.".

Houston died last year on February 11 at age 48 in a Beverly Hill Hotel room hours before she was to attend the 80-year-old Arista Records' founder's party in the same building. In a move the soul singer Chaka Khan would later call "complete insanity," the party scaled-back and proceeded despite the fact that police were still investigating the death scene on a floor above.

However, not all of Houston's family members share Cissy Houston's disgust. Her brother Gary Houston and sister-in-law Pat are planning to attend this year.

"[Clive] was such an important part of Whitney's life," Pat told Entertainment Tonight. "I mean, that was her industry father and he really, really was. My husband and I will definitely be there this weekend to support Clive. Absolutely."
