Katy Perry accused of plagiarism
Katy Perry released her "Roar" single earlier than expected after the song leaked over the weekend. Almost immediately, the pop star was accused of ripping off the melody and lyric video from other artists.
The Guardian reports that several fans have pointed out similarities between "Roar" and singer Sara Bareilles's "Brave," which came out earlier this year and reached number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. To illustrate the similarities, fans have created a mash-up of the two songs.
Meanwhile, DJ and producer Dillon Francis took to Twitter on Monday (August 12) to accuse Perry of copying the idea for his "Messages" music video in her lyric video for "Roar." Both videos feature lyrics spelled out in text message bubbles and emoticons.
"Damn first @official_flo steals @diplo's 'butters theme'" music idea now @katyperry steals my "messages" music video idea," he tweeted. "Legitimately this is so dope that @katyperry's director thought my video was good enough to rip off."

Perry has not commented on either accusation.
