Americans dislike Justin Bieber: poll

Justin Bieber 22

American voters are not huge fans of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Chris Brown, according to a music survey by Public Policy Polling.

The Canadian pop star's unfavourability rating was 54% and his likeability rating was 20%, according to the nationwide poll, which surveyed 571 U.S. voters on May 6 and 7.

R&B star Chris Brown did not fare well (13% positive, 57% negative), nor did "Born This Way" singer Lady Gaga (29% positive, 50% negative).

Jay-Z (25% postiive, 44% negative) and Rihanna (30% positive, 39% negative) did slightly better, while Taylor Swift (53% positive, 27% negative), Adele (54% positive, 18% negative), Beyonce (51% positive, 30% negative), and Justin Timberlake (52% positive, 24% negative) were the most liked.

Some artists did not score well because respondents were not familiar with their music. For example, British rocker Morrissey had a 17% positive, 31% negative rating but 52% were not sure.

Asked who they would like to see as President 34% chose Timberlake, followed by Adele (19%), Beyonce (14%), Jay-Z (9%), Lady Gaga (9%), Bieber (8%), Chris Brown (5%) and Rihanna (2%).

Swedish police find pot on Bieber's bus: report

Justin Bieber 22

Swedish police reportedly discovered a small amount of marijuana and a stun gun on Justin Bieber's tour bus on Wednesday night (April 24).

TMZ reports that an officer smelled pot on the bus while it was parked in front of Stockholm's Grand Hotel shortly after 7 p.m. local time and then contacted the narcotics unit to investigate. After obtaining a search warrant, police raided the empty bus in the parking garage of the Globe Arena and found a small amount of narcotics on the floor, as well as the taser.

Police declined to identify the substance but local newspapers are reporting that it was pot. No one will be charged since the bus was empty.

Bieber was embroiled in a pot smoking scandal earlier this year after hotel party photos of the 19-year-old pop star holding what looked like a joint surfaced online.

Bieber's pet monkey stuck in German shelter

Justin Bieber 21

Justin Bieber's pet monkey Mally is stuck in a German animal shelter even though the Canadian pop star has asked that it be placed in a zoo.

The Associated Press reports that Bieber's manager Scooter Braun reportedly sent two emails to customs officials that suggested "looking into the idea of placing Mally at a zoo in Germany."

Customs officials in Munich seized the 17-week-old capuchin monkey on March 28 when Bieber failed to produce the required papers upon arriving in the city to perform a concert.

"Our team is looking into the idea of placing Mally at a zoo in Germany. Would you happen to have any recommendations for places that Mally would be safe and thrive?" Bieber's reps wrote to the shelter in an email seen by the AP. "Again, we are very concerned that Mally is safe and placed in the best possible residence."

However, a spokesperson for German customs said that Mally must remain in the shelter until Bieber or someone with his power of attorney gets in touch.

He has until May 17 to provide the proper paperwork.

Anne Frank House defends Bieber amid controversy

Justin Bieber 20

Officials at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam have praised Justin Bieber in the wake of a backlash to comments he left in the museum's guestbook.

Last Friday (April 12), the Canadian pop star paid a visit the home of the Nazi concentration camp victim and wrote the following comment: "Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber."

A 'belieber' is a nickname for Bieber's obsessive fans. After the museum published the comments on its Facebook page, social media commenters and pundits began calling the 19-year-old insensitive and self-involved. The uproar prompted the Anne Frank House to issue a statement in defense of the star on Monday.

"The Anne Frank House was pleased to welcome Justin Bieber to the Anne Frank House last Friday," the statement reads. "We think it is very positive that he took the time and effort to visit our museum. He was very interested in the story of Anne Frank and stayed for over an hour. We hope that his visit will inspire his fans to learn more about her life and hopefully read the diary."

Bieber visited the Anne Frank House last Friday between stops on his European concert tour and spent more than an hour touring the museum with his friends and guards.

He has not commented on the backlash.

Neighbour alleges Bieber spit in his face

Justin Bieber 17

One of Justin Bieber's neighbours in Calabasas, California has accused the Canadian pop star of spitting in his face during an argument early on Tuesday morning (March 26).

"The neighbour has complained Mr. Bieber spit on him and made some threats," sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told The Los Angeles Times. "Mr. Bieber's people say that it did not happen. Obviously, our detectives will determine what happened and take appropriate action."

The trouble apparently began after the "Boyfriend" singer's new Ferrari arrived around 8 a.m. and the pop star decided to take it for a spin around the gated community. According to celebrity website TMZ, neighbours complained that he was driving too fast so one of them - a 47-year-old businessman and father of three - reportedly confronted the star by walking on to his property and screaming, "You can't drive like this!"

He alleges that Bieber replied "Get the f*** out of here," spit in his face and then added, "I'm gonna f***ing kill you."

The man filed a battery report and intends to take the star to court. Police are still investigating the allegations, as well as accusations that members of Bieber's entourage have been driving at excessively fast speeds through the neighbourhood.

No one has been arrested or cited in the dispute and there was no physical contact between the two men, according to TMZ's sources.

Topless Bieber parades through Polish airport

Justin-bieber-2

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber took a shirtless stroll through an airport in central Poland late on Monday night (March 25), Reuters reports.

The 19-year-old had performed a sold-out concert in Lodz earlier that night and apparently took off his shirt in a car as it pulled up to the airport. He then walked through the building in temperatures around -10C, got dressed at his gate and boarded a private jet.

"He wasn't told to take off his clothes. He had no metal objects on him," a spokeswoman for Lodz Airport told Reuters. "He's quite skinny so I assume he was probably freezing."

Bieber is rapidly earning a reputation as eccentric. The incident is the latest in a string of news stories to raise eyebrows during the star's European tour. He was photographed wearing a gas mask on a night out in London, turned up late for a concert, collapsed on stage at another and got into a shouting match with a photographer outside a hotel.

Bieber's mom producing pro-life movie

Pattie Mallette

Justin Bieber's mother has produced a pro-life short film that will begin screening in February.

Billboard reports that Pattie Mallette is the executive producer of Crescendo, a short film starring former Miss USA Ali Landry that was written and directed by Alonso Alvarez. The film will screen at 100 events on February 28 to raise money for pregnancy centers around the world.

In a statement, Mallette said she hopes the film will "encourage young women all over the world, just like me, to let them know that there is a place to go, people who will take care of you and a safe home to live in if you are pregnant and think you have nowhere else to turn."

Last year, Mallette published the memoir Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom in which she said she was pressured to have an abortion when she was pregnant with Bieber as a teenager.
