Katy Perry is the latest surprise guest to join the Rolling Stones on stage during their "50 and Counting" tour.

On Sunday night (May 12), the "Teenage Dream" singer joined Mick Jagger on stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to perform "Beast of Burden."

"Yes, I just did gyrated on Mick Jagger. WHAT?!" she tweeted following the show.

"Thanks for letting me be the 5th wheel last night," she added later, along with a photo of herself posing with the rock legends.

Are the Stones struggling to sell $600 tickets?

Rolling Stones 7

The Rolling Stones appear to be having trouble selling the priciest tickets to the kick-off show on their "50 and Counting" tour.

Reuters reports that the rock legends have begun selling tickets for $85, the only price point that has sold out for their May 3 show at Los Angeles' Staples Center. Some of the seats will be available in the "Tongue Pit" near the stage, and other will be spread around the arean, according to the band's website. Fans will be notified of their location on the day of the show.

As of Thursday (May 2), tickets priced between $250 and $600 were still available and hundreds more are available on re-seller sites. However, promoter AEG said they are not cutting prices but rather offering up seats originally thought to have an obstructed view.

"Seeing [the stage] in this setting for the first time, we were able to determine that seats previously thought to have obstructed views were in fact unobstructed and could immediately be offered to fans for $85 each," the company said in a statement.

The 17-date tour will mark the band's 50th anniversary in music. Their Canadian dates are listed below:

May 25 - Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre
June 6 - Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre
June 9 - Montreal, QC @ Bell Centre

Rolling Stones tour news expected this week

Rolling Stones 7

The Rolling Stones are expected to reveal their summer tour plans on Wednesday, Rolling Stone reports.

The magazine previously reported that the group signed with promoter AEG for an 18-date North American run this summer for which they will receive between US $4 million and $5 million per show. That means choice seats could end up costing fans around $500 to $650.

Billboards around the United States brandishing the band's logo and song titles have popped up in the last week and indicate that some sort of announcement is due on Wednesday (April 3).

Organizers of this year's Glastonbury Festival confirmed last week that the vetern rockers will headline the event for the first time on June 29.

The Rolling Stones to headline Glastonbury

Rolling Stones 4

The Rolling Stones will play Britain's Glastonbury Festival for the first time this year.

The rock veterans are one of three headliners at the annual event, which takes place in Somerset from June 28 to 30. The Stones will perform on Saturday and Mumford & Sons and the Arctic Monkeys will headline the other nights.

"Can't wait to play Glastonbury. I have my wellies and my yurt!" front man Mick Jagger tweeted on Wednesday (March 28), referring to the farmland where the festival takes place.

The event took a year off last year on account of the London Olympics and to allow the farmland to recover. Roughly 135,000 tickets have been sold for this year's festival.

Other acts on the bill include Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Portishead, Rufus Wainwright, Elvis Costello, Azealia Banks, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nas, The xx, Crystal Castles, The Lumineers and many more.

Jagger: 'The Stones aren't playing Coachella'

Mick Jagger 1

The Rolling Stones will not perform at this year's Coachella festival.

Despite persistent rumours fueled by an apparent glitch on the rock n' roll group's mobile app, front man Mick Jagger said in an interview with NME that the band will not be in touring shape come April.

"We're not gonna do Coachella, 'cos it's too early," he said. "There was a rumour we were gonna do that one, but it's very early, Coachella. It's April or something, isn’t it? And we're not gonna be ready to go by April. But we're not gonna stop."

However, the Stones' are keen to get back on the road following their 50th anniversary gigs in London, New York and New Jersey last year.

"I'm going to see what's on the table and discuss it with everyone. We'll announce it when we've figured it out," Jagger said of the band's tour plans.

"Really, all you're going to have to do is wait for an announcement," guistarist Keith Richards added.

Coachella hints at Rolling Stones headlining gig

Rolling Stones 4

The organizers of the Coachella festival have dropped a hint that seemingly furthers rumours that the Rolling Stones will headline this year's event.

On Friday (January 4), the fest posted a photo on Facebook of a round stone resting on the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.

The band, which recently reunited to play a series of gigs marking their 50th anniversary, dropped their own hint last month when their official app listed an April 12 tour stop in Indio. The listing has since been removed.

The Stones rarely play festival gigs. The band's last North American festival was at the SARS benefit concert in Toronto and their last American festival date was their ill-fated appearance at Altamont in 1969.

This year's Coachella line-up will be announced later this month.

Rolling Stones to play Sandy benefit concert

Rolling Stones 6

The Rolling Stones are the latest high-profile act sign on to perform at the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief at Madison Square Garden in New York, Billboard reports.

The reunited rockers join a star-studded line-up that includes Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, The Who, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Chris Martin of Coldplay and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters.

The sold-out December 12 show is being broadcast on 40 U.S. television networks and online via video channels such as YouTube.

"We are proud to be able to say that this concert is already setting records, by securing near total distribution around the world," the concert's organizers said in a joint statement on Friday (December 7). "The massive distribution means that the concert will be available to almost anyone on the planet with a television, a radio, a smartphone, tablet, computer or internet connected device."

Proceeds from the concert will go toward the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which is helping those affected by the storm in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The Rolling Stones are also due to play four concerts as part of their 50th anniversary tour at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn on December 8 and at the Prudential Center in Newark on December 13 and 15.

Rolling Stones to face fine for breaking London curfew

Keith Richards Rolling Stones

It's a good thing The Rolling Stones charged upwards of USD $1,000 per ticket to their 50th anniversary gigs as the legendary group is reportedly facing a $320,000 fine for violating the city's noise curfew rules.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Stones' Sunday night (November 25) gig at London's O2 Arena had to be cut short because the two-and-half hour concert had gone 35 minutes over the city's strict 10:30 p.m. curfew. Consequently, the band was apparently unable to end with their classic "Satisfaction" as planned.

In an interview with UK newspaper The Sun, the band's agent Bernard Doherty seemed to brush off the penalty.

"It means a big fine - but the guys just do their thing," he said. "There wasn’t a janitor standing there, jangling his keys, saying. 'I want to go home.'"

The band is expected to net a cool $25 million for its short "50 and Counting" tour, which also includes stops in New York and New Jersey.

Earlier this year, rockers Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen were cut short by promoters after a concert in London's Hyde Park exceeded the curfew.

Mick Jagger's secret love letters up for auction

Mick Jagger 1

A former flame of Rolling Stone front man Mick Jagger is broke and selling his secret love letters to make money.

The Guardian reports that Marsha Hunt, a musician, the mother of the star's first child and the inspiration for the song "Brown Sugar," is auctioning off a series of letters penned when Jagger was in Australia filming Ned Kelly in the summer of 1969.

"I'm broke," Hunt said. "Anyone who has the impression that I have money knows nothing about me. I had friends who came to visit from Pennsylvania and there was no electricity in the house because the bill had been too high, I was kind of grooving it with a wood burning stove. One friend said, 'surely you've got something you could sell?'"

The correspondence, which goes on the block at Sotheby's in London on December 12, shows Jagger's sensitive side at a time when The Rolling Stones were considered the rebellious antidote to The Beatles. She added that the star is not in favour of the auction but, as Hunt put it, the letters "are not his."

"This is Mick in his own words," she told the newspaper. "This is part of English history, it is part of rock history, part of cultural history and it corrects all the misinformation and I think we live in a time when misinformation is swallowed as, 'well, who cares?' Facts are relevant.

"The sale is important," she continued. "Someone, I hope, will buy those letters as our generation is dying and with us will go the reality of who we were and what life was."
